Cuba Libre
Cuba Libre por favor!
Location: Cuba (discover), the largest island in the Caribbean (discover).
When cold white winter blanket covers the northern hemisphere northerners head south to recharge, discover new, enjoy and relax.
Exotic countries are also the perfect place to introduce the taste buds to the new flavors. Often enough, upon discovery some tasty treats are brought back to enjoy afterwords while sharing with friends memories of the warmth and sandy beaches. But, non of those lasts forever. Good thing about today’s world is that a product we discovered to like, or two, from that far away land, may be available in a local store, and who knows, that little effort of getting up, going to the store and preparing a southern meal or a drink could easily recharge batteries just as a vacation did.
Today, we’ll make a Cuba Libre. As you may know, or you may have guessed, rum is the key ingredient and what’s better way to introduce us to a rum you should use then by a host at a rum factory in Havana (video)…
Cuba Libre ingredients:
- 60 mL or 2 oz of rum
- Cola
- Lime or lemon wedge
- Ice cubes
Preparation:
Pour rum over ice cubes, top the glass with cola and garnish it with lime or lemon wedge.
