Summer on Mont Royal
Mont Royal is a mountain, or to be precise, around 200 meters or 656 feet high hill in the very center of Montreal. Since it has been always known among locals as mountain then we’ll continue in the same tone.
The mountain is surrounded with the city of Montreal on all four sides.

On the south slope of Mont Royal mountain you’ll find observation terrace, Belvédère Kondiaronk, overlooking downtown Montreal, also featured in our photo gallery.
Mountain is accessible from downtown via few paths, stairs and by the road from the east side of Montreal, borough (arrondissement) Outremont, as well as the west side, borough Côte-des-Neiges and Ville de Westmount.
Mont Royal is one of the largest Montreal parks busy year-round with Montrealers and tourists alike. It’s for large number of Montrealers around the corner or short distance away by car, metro or bus, perfect recreational spot for morning jogging, mountain biking, walk, or the place to have a picnic with family and friends on those sunny summer days.
On the mountain you’ll find Beavers lake that sometimes during the winter months (weather conditions permitting) is turned into a very large ice skating rink. Another skating rink is maintained right beside the lake. If you end up there without the skates, rentals are available on-site, available sizes for all ages.

On the slope above the lake, soon after first major snowfall, you’ll find well groomed sledding, tubing and tobogganing run that ends on the frozen Beavers lake. Also, close to 20 km or 15,5 miles of cross-country skiing trails are crisscrossing the mountain.
