Cornwall / Charlottetown KOA
Season: Summer
Location: Cornwall – Prince Edward Island
The Cornwall / Charlottetown KOA campground is located on the oceanfront in a beautiful part of Prince Edward Island, not far from Charlottetown.
Campground is spacious, green everywhere you look except at its very edge where’s sky melting into blue waters of the ocean with a line of red soil tucked in between, but upon our arrival on the eve of a national holiday it was completely full. You see, unlike most travelers who go on the vacations with reservations booked months in advance, that day we ended up on PEI without any reservations and with only a wish list that was containing few locations we wanted to visit this time around.

At that point we were already wondering around close to 2000 km in the general direction through Acadia and making plans only one day to another, staying mostly in the hotels so far, plus one night of glamping in Gaspesie, Quebec.
Where we went and where we stayed mostly depended on how far we were able to get in the day, then on local recommendations, travel brochures and on the weather forecast. Since our stay in PEI was short and part of a longer road trip we thought it’s a good time to look for a place to stretch the legs, have kids spend time on the swimming pool and for us to cook a meal or two on our own, maybe have a drink on a beautiful sandy beach.

In conclusion…
… another lucky day on a road trip? Our luck served us well when we chose this KOA campground. Even though there was zero camping sites available on Canada Day weekend, friendly manager got as a spot in what was in our opinion perfect location that she called “under the development“, right near the pool, where, after we have settled in, later in the afternoon, a few more friendly neighbours showed up in the same area. Thank you KOA!

Canada Day
After the nightfall, on Canada day, the beach at the campground became a great place for everyone at the campground to get together and enjoy not so distant fireworks that were lunched from near by Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island.

On the photos bellow:
- reception and a convenience store are located at the entrance to the campground
- the under the development park area that saved the day thanks to a friendly KOA manager, not only our day but the day of few other campers who knocked on the gate without reservations and with nowhere to go on a long holiday weekend.

Once again, thank you KOA & PEI!
